    Wren Least Expected [Skylar]

Post by Arik on Tue Aug 15, 2017 7:34 pm

It was a nice day in the city, or about as nice as you could get in the city. The sun was out and had scared away all of the clouds, leaving an open blue sky as far as the eye could see. It was warm out, but not too hot, and the breeze didn't put an uncomfortable chill on the air. Kids were playing at the park across the street- the park where he had recently picked up a cat with another lady. That lady... she was nice and had helped him yet, he didn't think that he had picked up on her name. What a shame. Although, at the same time, it was unlikely that he'd ever talk to her again. The city was big, and even though she stood out, he wasn't sure if he'd be confident enough to approch her again.

The waitress came over to his table, dropping off his mint tea and toasted sandwich. Arik thanked her, wrapping his hands around the hot mug. It would have to cool off before he could drink it, but the heat was comforting. This particular shop had outdoor seating along with the normal indoor tables. He was next to the little metal fence that surrounded the patio, sitting alone at the little round table. For him, it wasn't unusual. While he knew a few faces around the city, there was no one that he considered a 'friend.' At least not yet. The male wasn't that social, nor was he that interesting. He would be one to blend in with a crowd.

To take an edge off of his slowly-growing hunger, he took a bite of his sandwich. The sounds the crisp bread made as he bit through it was pleasing. Swiss and ham, with a hint of their special sauce, one of his favorite sandwiches here. Arik set it back down on top of the paper it came in. He'd rather savor it then scarf it down in one go. He looked over at the park while he relaxed there, almost glad not to have something to do right away.

Skylar had, for the most part, been incredibly bored throughout the day.

    And she loathed being bored...

So she had decided, just for a bit of fun, to investigate the world around her in her avian form. People didn't really seem to notice the vibrantly coloured bird which was casually just watching her surroundings. In all honesty, it was somewhat nice to actually be able to somewhat fly while she was like this. With a frustrated squawk at the fact that she couldn't nearly get the sort of lift that she use to be able to, she half glided from tree to tree- having ascended a building in her human form prior to doing this, just so she could have a chance at half flying.

With a curious tilt of her head, she noted someone who, to her, looked rather familiar. The black hoodie pulled over himself, the rather plain jeans. The avian tilted her head the other way, well aware of the fact that she was perched in the tree right over them. Curiously, she watched as a waiter gave him a sandwich before he leaned back into his chair and gazed upon the park in front of him. Almost silently, Skylar would catch the wind and decide to rapidly descend, landing on a free chair to man's right which was at the same table. Admittedly, she had to partially lean forward to make sure that she didn't just topple the chair backwards and bring the whole thing crashing upon the ground.

With a rather curious look gleaming in her blackened eyes, she tilted her head slightly, well aware of the people who were passing quiet comments behind the black clothed man. Her vibrant feathers were a stark contrast against the lush greens and browns around her and, rather happily, she gave another half squawk. No. She still had yet to relearn proper speech while she was in this form, squawks like this was the absolute best that she could do.

However, her eyes didn't leave the hooded man, watching closely for his reaction at the birds sudden appearance.

Arik was almost expecting this to be a rather normal day, or at least one where big birds didn't come out of the sky and land in the chair next to him. The avian had startled him a bit when it had landed, what bird that big wouldn't? It was around the size of an eagle, its feathers taking on more of a pink hue until you go to the wings. The wings reminded him of a parrot, the tropical, multi-colored birds. Its colors almost reminded the male of the lady he had done the mission with. But that couldn't be, could it?

What did people do who encountered a strange bird landing beside them? Most animals kept to themselves, yet this one bravely flew down and perched next to him. "Hello there," he said awkwardly, conscious of all the other people around. Was there a reason it landed itself there, something he should do or that it wanted? The male glanced at his sandwich, slowly reaching towards it as to not scare the creature and tugged a piece of the bread off. "You want some?" he asked, offering the bread to the bird with an open palm.
